MFA PROGRAM IN CREATIVE WRITING
Temple University offers an MFA degree in Creative Writing, with a focus on either fiction or poetry.
The writing component of the two-year MFA degree features small, intensive workshops in poetry or fiction, supplemented in the second year by one-on-one tutorials with resident faculty.
The curriculum includes special topics classes in creative writing, courses in the craft of fiction and poetry, humanities and arts electives, and a creative thesis in the second year. A series of readings from prominent visiting writers and intensive week-long consultations with writers-in-residence augment the coursework.
A limited number of fellowships and teaching assistantships are available. The deadline for application is December 15 for consideration for teaching assistantships, and February 15 for final admission.
